Markham's dessert scene is a city in itself. From traditional Hong Kong sweet soups to Korean shaved ice and Italian gelato — here are the spots locals genuinely love.

1. Sweet Together — Hong Kong dessert

Traditional Cantonese tong sui, mango pomelo sago, black sesame paste. A staple. See our hidden gems guide for more.

2. Mister Snow — Korean shaved ice (bingsu)

Mango bingsu, injeolmi (toasted rice powder), and matcha. Best for groups — order one bowl and share.

3. Hojicha Tea Lab — Japanese matcha desserts

Matcha soft serve, hojicha lattes, and Japanese-style castella cake. Refined.

4. La Diperie — Customizable soft serve

Belgian-style soft serve dipped in chocolate and rolled in your choice of toppings. Underrated for a casual treat.

5. Gelato Cup — Italian gelato

The most authentic gelato in Markham. Stracciatella, pistachio, and seasonal fruit flavours are exceptional.

6. Hi-Five Chicken & Waffles — Korean style

The dessert add-ons (Korean shaved ice, fried mochi balls) deserve their own visit, even without the chicken.

7. Truedan — Brown sugar boba milk

Counts as a dessert in our book. Best brown sugar boba in the city.

8. Honey & Co. — Honeycomb-themed desserts

Fresh honeycomb on everything from toast to ice cream. Worth the visit.

9. Pâtisserie Royale — French pastries

The kouign-amann is the move. The opera cake is a close second.

10. Demetres — Classic dessert chain

The chain that defined GTA dessert culture. Still strong. The chocolate fondue is the order if you're with a group.
